The Battle of the Bulge was one of the greatest and decisive battles of World War 2. It was also the single greatest battle fought by the U.S. Army during the entire war.

Dr. Hugh M. Cole said of it "The mettle of the American soldier was tested in the fires of adversity and the quality of his response earned him the right to stand shoulder to shoulder with his forebears of Valley Forge, Fredericksburg and the Marne."

This battle was won by American soldiers at places such as Marnach, Bastogne, Clervaux, Ruppenvenn, La Gleize and Lanzerath. Hitler believed the American soldier to be the weak link in the Allied chain. He was proved wrong by the American G.I. Men such as McKinley, Cowan, Bouck, Desobry, Lopez, Moore and Harper experienced the German attack held out and reversed the German tide.

The noted 3rd Army historian Martin Blumenson once referred to the Battle of the Bulge as "The Climactic battle in the West".
